Performance is decent considering its size and it has so many ports compared to other ultrabooks. It has an Ethernet port! Thats a big deal for me as hotel wi-fi networks are usually really bad. Almost no other ultrabook has that, same with a regular sized HDMI port. Sure you could get a different computer and carry ethernet/hdmi adapters with you but carrying around adapters defeats the purpose of having an ultrabook! Cons: The screens color contrast is a bit washed out and can not be adjusted. However this is only a minor annoyance to me and the screen is plenty bright. Overall: I bought this and the Toshiba Portege Z835 at the same time and used both side by side for a few days. The HP won hands down. There are other ultrabooks but they all are missing something; ethernet, hdmi, backlit keyboard... As of early 2012 this is the best ultrabook on... I use it for college and it is great for portability and its battery lasts all day. I have gotten 8.0 hours on the battery with brightness fairly low using wifi (Netflix and browsing). I like the USB 3.0 with an external HDD because it is really fast transfer. The only thing with it is that the SSD is only 128gb but with the recovery partition plus operating system there is only about 70 gigs for the user. I got a 32 gig class 10 SD card to get some extra space. Some people have tons of music and videos on their computer so this laptop may not be for you but I have very little media on mine and doubt that it will be a problem. The SSD makes booting, loading, copying and installing programs really fast. The computer boots up to a usable state in about 18 seconds and all hardware is very good. Keyboard and trackpad are very good. Backlight on the keyboard is awesome however not as cool in the white color than my... Dell released a single drivers that supported Windows XP and later till Windows 8. There are 2 available drivers released which base on the Windows architecture:

Windows XP, Vista,7 and 8 32-bit Download Link (46MB): DELL_V715w_wcr_32_en.exe
Windows XP, Vista,7 and 8 64-bit Download Link (70MB): DELL_V715w_wcr_64_en.exe

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Issue :

Installation Error:
"Your operating system cannot support the Dell V715w printer."

If this proble, occur during installation, you need to install in in compatibility mode.

Lenovo 3000 Y400 Windows 7 Driver

This weekend i got my hand on this model Lenovo 3000 Y400 to fix the OS. First time i look at it, no wonder, it is an old model (without looking at the specification), additionally it use windows vista.
During the windows XP installation, the DVD not work properly and cause incomplete installation which lead to driver installation failure.

SPECS:
Then i look at the specs -1.0GB ram and CORE DUO processor .then this make my job easy, installed windows 7. (note: dun judge the notebook by its cover)

WINDOWS 7 DRIVER:
All of the driver installed automatically except:

1. 3 BASE SYSTEM DEVICE : RICOH CARD READER
2. UNKNOWN DEVICE : refer to ENERGY CUT

1. RICOH CARD READER:
Download this driver:

(install by double click at it)

2. ENERGY CUT

(install by right click and select run as admin)

OTHER DRIVERS:
I dont have to install other driver since its automatically installed. But if incase you need it:

1. AUDIO:
ADI audio driver:

1. Right click on aud02us24.exe and select extract (extract the driver).
2. Open the extracted folder and you will find SETUP.EXE.
3. Right click on setup.exe and select COMPATIBILITY - select run this program in compatibility mode for "WINDOWS VISTA".
4. click APPLY and OK.
5. Right click again on SETUP.EXE and select run as admin.

If direct installation failed, try method similar to installing audio.

Last time when they were announcing the nominee’s names, mine was at the middle that time, I thought we will be following that sequence, so I was relaxingly standing at the side of all the boys but suddenly, present school captain (Bumika Tamang) announced “we will start our speech from that side..!” and she was looking at me, I was once shocked when I heard that. I went up to the podium and gave my speech in dzongkha niggchang (pure dzongkha) for two minutes as we are given only two minutes to share our manifestoes and ask for votes.

In total, we were 29 candidates out of which 12 were boys and 17 were girls. Out of 29, best 18 candidates will be selected today through the election, 9 boys and 9 girls. Last time madam told that whoever gets the highest votes will be elected as the school captains but today the school administration told that out of 9 boys and 9 girls, the teacher will discuss among them and elect the best of best two (one for boys & one for girls) as the school captain and rest 16 will be holding the post of various house captains.

 

Today’s election was like the real election as all the e-voting machines were there, polling stations and polling officers were also there. All the stations was arranged in the MPH, students were voting with their full confidences as during the morning, Lopen Tshering Gyeltshen showed us demo on how to use e-voting machines. We were also given the chance to vote for our-self. We started voting at around 11:00 AM till 4:00 PM (started with class 12). All the staffs (both teaching & non-teaching) were also allowed to vote for us.

 

I think they will be announcing the election result in the assembly tomorrow. I have no idea whether I will be elected or not but I am very excited to see the next year’s school captain and various house captains. And I hope that the best and most capable one will be elected as the school captain.

New Year Party 2014

Dragon Nest Resort has a very good system of giving a grand new year party annually to all the staffs of the resort. Last year they had a new year party in their own resort but this year they decided to have in a different place to make little more special. So they decided to have in the newly inaugurated hotel Kinley in the Bajo town. This hotel is owned by the owner of one of the most popular general store in Wangdue i.e kinley general store. Its a very beautiful hotel and perfect for a grand diner with friends and families. 

The party was coordinated by the manager of the DNR. well, I was not a staff of DNR but my mom serves there and I was invited as a gust. So, I also joined them to have fun with them. It was a great fun and all the staffs had a good time to spent with talking and sharing things with each-other. And one of the most interesting thing was DNR had even selected a best employ of the year 2013. They had special certificate and a cash price for the winner. And it was rightly acquired by one of the ladies Run Maya Subba (dish washer). She was very happy and excited but at the same time very nervous about it as it was a big surprise for her.

In the final notation, the party was not very awesome like in the party hall as it was a family party but it was fun and I had a really good time with the staffs.
